|Executive Committee Meeting held in Shillong
on June 19
A meeting of Executive Committee was held in Shillong on June 19, 1999. The meeting was presided over by Dr. D.C. Misra, IAS, President COSIDICI and CMD Delhi Financial Corporation, New Delhi and attended by 22 other members. The meeting was followed by a press conference.
Before commencement of the formal proceeding of the meeting, all the members of COSIDICI mourned the martyrdom of our gallant soldiers who have laid down their lives defending the territorial integrity of their motherland in their fight against Pakistan in Kargil. The members also observed 2 minutes' silence to pay their homage to the martyrs. It was decided by the Executive Committee (E.C.) to request the employees of our Member Corporations to contribute a day's salary on voluntory basis towards the war efforts of the Government and welfare of the jawans and their families. The Member Corporations were requested to deposit the amount collected from the employees in the Prime Minister Relief Fund or National Defence Fund either through COSIDICI or directly through their respective State Governments. COSIDICI has sent an appeal to all Member Corporations in this regard.
The E.C. had taken the following important decisions in its meeting:-
1. It was decided that a delegation of COSIDICI will meet the Union Finance Minister and present to him the various problems being faced by State Level Financial Institutions (SLFIs) and seek remedial measures from the Government. A memorandum proposed to the submitted to the Union Finance Minister was also approved by the E.C.
2. A delegation of COSIDICI consisting of Dr. D.C. Misra, IAS, President COSIDICI, Shri Man Mohan Singh, IAS, Vice President COSIDICI, Shri P. Basumatary, IAS, Vice President COSIDICI and Shri R. Sellamuthu, IAS, Member Executive Committee was scheduled to meet Shri G. P. Gupta, Chairman & Managing Director, IDBI at Mumbai on June 30, 1999. The Memorandum highlighting the various issues for discussions with Shri Gupta (already sent to IDBI) was approved by the E.C. The memorandum. Interalia contains our demands for re-capitalisation and financial re-structuring of SFCs and provision of cheap resources to these institutions for carrying on their normal operations.
3. The E. C. decided to bring out a Publication to welcome the New Millenium. The Publication will be named `COSIDICI YEAR BOOK'. The book will contain the history of COSIDICI and its activities and the profile of each Member Corporation highlighting their achievements in the establishment of industrial enterprises in their respective states and generation of employment opportunities etc. COSIDICI will soon approach Member Corporations for supply of necessary information and data for the purpose.
4. The President, COSIDICI informed the Member Corporations that COSIDICI has decided to launch its Website which would include the input from all the Member Corporations regarding their activities. For undertaking this Project SIDBI has sanctioned a grant of Rs. 2.28 lacs. The Member Corporation were requested to supply their Profile to COSIDICI for being included in the proposed Website.
5. Training Programme
As already mentioned in the previous issue, COSIDICI has entered into a collaboration with National Institute of Banking Studies and Corporate Management (NIBSTC), New Delhi for providing Training facilities to the Executives of our Member Corporations. On our request the Institute is now circulating all its- Training Programmes among our Member Corporation. During the month of June, the Institute arranged a Training Programme on "Advance Recovery manangement" in Banks and Financial Institutions form 21st to 25th June, 1999. Apart from large numbers of participants form Commercial Banks 7 Officers from our Member Corporations (MPFC Indore, PICUP Lucknow, TIIC Chennai etc.) had participated in the Programme. Shri K. K. Mudgil, Secretary General, COSIDICI had inaugurated the Programme on June 21, 1999 and delivered a talk on strategies for recovery Management in Banks and Financial Institutions.
